If you’re planning on attending business graduate school, you will need to take the Graduate Management Admission Test to gain entrance. Graduate schools use the GMAT to identify candidates that are likely to succeed. Because of the importance of high GMAT test scores, most business students begin studying for it well in advance. Many students can seek specific GMAT coaching in Mumbai to prepare for the test.
The GMAT is designed to measure your analytical skills rather than just knowledge or comprehension. It is these analytical verbal and writing skills that are the keys to success in advanced business programs. The GMAT test is comprised of four major sections.
The test is timed, with students have 3 ½ hours to complete all four sections. If you do not complete all of the test, you are scored on the sections that you did complete. There are a total of 90 multiple choice and short answer questions. There is also one essay question that is designed to assess your analytical writing skills.
You will receive five different scores after completing the GMAT. There is one score for each of the four sections and a total overall score. The total score is comprised only of your verbal and quantitative scores. Scores on the GMAT run from 200 to 800, with most test takers scoring in the 400 to 600 range.
Most people who prepare for the GMAT exam spend an average of 51 hours studying. The primary method of studying is taking either online or in-person GMAT classes. Those who study for the GMAT tend to have better scores than those who do little to no studying. The key to success with the GMAT is not necessarily how much you study but the quality of the courses that you take.
In addition, GMAT courses include one to two practice tests that can help you develop the discipline needed to complete the rigorous test. It also teaches you to pace yourself so that you can complete the test in the allotted time.
